Testing… Testing… Is this thing on?
It’s only been two years since I posted something here. It is feeling a little awkward to try to start writing again, but I’m just going to type some stuff out and see what happens…
At least one of my kids has found my blog, read a bunch of it online and in the books I’ve had made of some of the earlier posts, and is begging me to get back to writing. It feels quite different now with three teenaged girls and two very active boys. The girls don’t always want me taking their pictures and (naturally) want to have a say in whether I post photos or info about them now. Somehow homeschooling life with three teenagers and two pre-tweens (is that a word?) is much busier than life with a bunch of little kids, and in a different way that leaves less time for this sort of thing. And really, does anyone even blog anymore?? I feel so old-fashioned, like I should be using Instagram stories or Tik Tok or something instead of this clunky old blog. But I’m an old dog, and not much up for learning new tricks, I guess. So here I am. Typing actual sentences (except this one). Sitting at an actual computer. Putting down a few things just to get over the inertia of not posting in almost two years, and to test how this site is working, as I’ve been having a few issues with it.
Here is a very quick update about a few things in our lives:
- We are still homeschooling. I am teaching all of the even grades from 2-12 except 6th.
- We moved. Actually, we moved twice since the last time I posted here. We sold our old house, moved into our cottage for a little over a year while building a new house closer to our parish and homeschooling community, and then moved into the new house this past summer. Now we live 25 minutes from our parish, instead of 65.
- My beloved mom passed away this past January, and my dad moved back to Kentucky this summer. This feels like too big of a thing to post in a one-sentence update, but I also can’t give an update without mentioning it, so there it is.
- We have one daughter with a driver’s license, and one who just got a permit. This is both awesome and terrifying at the very same time. If fact, that last sentence may be the prevalent feeling in much of my life right now, as my children grow and begin to branch out in life. And also did I mention I have two boys?? Awesome and terrifying.
That might have to be all for now. I’ll leave you with a couple of (teenager approved) photos.
